Introducing Teleport: Recreate any space in immersive 3D
Teleport lets you capture and share any space in immersive 3D using just your iPhone, enabling others to explore and experience it as if they were there.
Teleport lets you capture and share any space in immersive 3D using just your iPhone, enabling others to explore and experience it as if they were there.
This is what Teleport is bringing to life. Teleport lets you recreate any space in immersive 3D, giving viewers the freedom to explore every corner and detail, as if they were there in person. Today, I’m thrilled to share how we’re making our vision to bridge the gap between physical and digital worlds a reality.
Photos and videos have shaped how we share context, but they inevitably capture just a slice of the reality in front of us. A photograph can only show you what the camera lens sees, a single frame locked in time. A video can reveal a bit more movement and depth, but it’s still a journey directed by the person holding the camera. What you’re missing is the freedom to move and experience the space yourself; the ability to lean in and inspect details, step around a corner, or see something from a different angle.
With Teleport, we’re changing the game. Our 3D scanning service captures spaces in a way that lets you and others experience them from every perspective. It’s not just capturing an image; it’s recreating the environment itself, offering a level of immersion that’s closer to reality than anything else.
The journey to creating Teleport has been focused on a clear mission: to make high-quality 3D scanning simple, affordable, and accessible to everyone. We began by exploring new methods of capturing and displaying 3D scenes that could adapt to a wide range of uses. Over time, Teleport evolved into a lightweight, intuitive app that delivers fast results – whether you’re documenting a construction site, showcasing a retail space, or capturing a place that holds meaning to you.
Today, with over 2,000 users participating in our early access program and providing invaluable feedback, we’ve crafted the first version of Teleport that not only captures scenes in stunning detail but also addresses core needs of users who rely on speed, affordability, and convenience.
Teleport unlocks a world of new possibilities for a diverse range of users:
Imagine you are managing a busy construction site. There’s so much to keep track of – progress updates, and constant communication with remote teams. Instead of making repeated visits, you can scan the site with Teleport. You now have a detailed 3D model you can revisit anytime. Architects, planners, and inspectors can measure distances, spot issues, and collaborate in ways that feels almost as effective as being there. Teleport simplifies the work, saving time while ensuring that nothing gets missed.
Teleport isn’t just for professionals – it's also a tool for creators and storytellers. Think about an artist preserving the textures of a historic building for their next project, or a museum sharing an intricate sculpture with a global audience. Filmmakers and planners can use Teleport to scan locations, capturing them in 3D for easy planning of layouts, lighting, and angles – making collaboration seamless.
For personal use, Teleport changes the way we preserve and relive life’s moments. Imagine scanning your childhood home or capturing your wedding venue, so you can revisit it anytime from anywhere. Even for practical tasks, like planning a home renovation, Teleport becomes invaluable. Scan a room, experiment with furniture layouts, and share your vision with your contractor all without endless back-and-forth.
In education and enterprise, Teleport takes productivity to a whole new level. Educators can create virtual field trips, bringing lessons alive in ways that engage and inspire. Emergency responders can use detailed 3D scans to simulate real-world scenarios, improving preparedness. Whether it’s training employees across the world, auditing factories, or showcasing products, Teleport will revolutionise how industries operate by making immersive 3D accessible to all.
In the coming months, we’ll continue to focus on improving the quality of 3D reconstructions and making the capturing process as simple, fast, and intuitive as possible.
But Teleport isn’t just about recreating spaces in stunning detail – we want to change the way that professionals work, by creating new ways to understand and interact in the real world. Soon, you’ll be able to enrich your 3D captures with interactive points of interest, creating guided tours that showcase key features or tell compelling stories. We’re exploring ways to stitch multiple scenes into unified virtual environments, enabling you to capture entire buildings, large sites, or project phases in a single immersive model.
In the future, collaboration will become easier, too, as we make it possible for teams to share and explore a project together within a single 3D experience, no matter where they are. Imagine being able to walk through a space from the comfort of your own home or share a walkthrough with clients, colleagues, or friends - no matter where they are. You’ll also be able to track a space’s evolution over time, capturing it at different stages to visualise progress and document changes in ways photos or videos can’t.
Ultimately, high-fidelity 3D capture will enable new kinds of digitals agents to work alongside us, and to enrich our work. Today’s AI is limited by the domains it can learn from – the corpus of text and images that has so far been digitised. As humans, we have a deep spatial understanding developed through countless interactions with the world around us. By capturing and digitising this spatial knowledge, we open the door to AI systems that can better understand and assist in the physical world. These will contribute to the training of so-called Large World Models, which will power a new kind of spatial AI assistant – one that can help a structural engineer to plan, an inspector to spot product defects, or a film director to craft the perfect camera angles.
Teleport has already seen an incredible response, with hundreds of early adopters who’ve shared their enthusiasm and insights, helping us shape what Teleport is today. We’re excited to welcome even more users into this journey as we open Teleport to the world. You can now fit your world within your pocket.
